OBS needs restart after 10-15mins to stop dropouts

Hey forum!
I'm using an Elgato Camlink 4k to record my Fuji x-t3 on a MacBookPro (M1 Pro) – 1080/25 in hardware encoded h.265
All resolutions and frame rates of camera, settings output match.

I found the following strange behaviour of OBS.
I launch OBS and start recording a few files (10 to 60 secs each), everything is fine.
When OBS is running for 10-15 mins I suddenly get lots of drop frames (identical subsequent frames), sometimes 4 within a second, while the stats still say zero drop frames.
Now if I quit OBS, (important: then wait for 10 secs), restart OBS again, I get another 10-15 mins working period until the drop frames return again.

Anyone an idea what could cause this?

Best

Having the same kind of issue for nearly one year! Stats still say zero drop frame.. Drop frames happens even if there is NO streaming and / or recording going on!

Hey jet7!
Thanks for the link!
Maybe it has something to do with switching between apps while OBS is running (even without streaming or recording), as someone in your thread mentioned?

I'll check later if recording a file over 20mins without switching apps is also affected...

Okay, just checked.
In my case it has nothing to with switching between apps while OBS is running.
Sigh
Is it periodic? So if you let OBS run for 1 hour does the "surges" occur and then go away after 5 minutes or so and then it all repeats again after 10-15 minutes?

No. OBS seems to work quite well, and after 10-15 mins the dropouts appear (up to 4-6 per second @ 25 fps), until I quit OBS, wait for aprox 10 secs and restart it again...

Hmm. That's different. We have periodic "surges" happening on all 3 Mac M1/2 laptops we have.

First everything is well, then suddenly there is these "surges" with drop frames. Then suddenly all is well again for a while.. and then it will get those "surges" again...

Weird. Is there an exact time pattern, when these "surges" appear?
