Question / Help OBS NDI questions

So not having enough money for a capture card, NDI sounds like a great idea but i have a few questions i havent been able to find the answers for, or figure out myself. mostly dealing with stream quality settings.

I know how it works or rather how to get it to work and the bare minimum of how it works. What i cant figure out is if i have OBS open on my gaming pc, and i want to tune the quality, it makes sense i would have to do this on my gaming pc since from what i understand it broadcasts it sort of anyway over ethernet.. or do i do it on my encoding pc? is there any settings i can change on OBS on my gaming pc to lower the impact since from my understanding its technically streaming it, but not really streaming it.

when i messed with it if i raised or lowered either the quality settings or bitrate my cpu usage went up just enough to notice it, and sometimes a little more then just a little bit. id say from around a 5% usage to 12-15

NDI sends a high bandwidth, very lightly compressed video feed out onto your local network. Any tuning for the final quality of a recording or streaming session is done on the streaming/recording PC, not the gaming PC.

There is some load placed on the gaming PC for running OBS with NDI output, but it is less than running an entire stream. (No other scenes or sources, no filters, no encoding, just the NDI output).

It is lower load, but not zero load, and not as low as if you were using a capture card.
