Question / Help OBS NDI-Plugin vs. External Capture Card.

Simple question. I just started streaming. Quality and sound looks good, however, when I compare my streams to some of the "pros" playing similar games, their video quality is superior.

I am using 2 computers, Ryzen 7 for streaming, recording, editing, and a i7, 4790K (oc) for my gaming. 1060 gpu's. And I am using the ndi-plugin, read a ton about it, and have set it up correctly.

SO, will an external card, ie. Elgato HD60 give me superior video quality?

Thanks in advance.

Bigger streamers also have acces to better bit rates, that might be why
All streamers can use the same bitrates on Twitch, this is a myth.

If your quality looks good on the preview, then the encoding options are the things you need to experiment with, not the capture method. Generally more bitrate or a lower resolution / FPS helps with perceived quality.

Most USB 3.0 or PCI-E capture card: Yes, but many of them is reduced 4:2:2 chroma resolution (half horizontal color resolution), but video compression for Twitch and YouTube is 4:2:0 so less color resolution will happen anyway.
edit: a dual computer stream quality can improve with the use of slower x264 presets, compared to trying to game and stream on the same computer.

Elgato HD60 (USB 2.0, not S, not Pro): NO because of compression to fit a slow USB 2.0, and this USB 2.0 capture device have a large delay of about 1-2 second.

edit2: replied to a month old topic.
