Question / Help OBS Multitrack, but I only hear one track? [solved, kinda]

Hi all,

I‘m having a problem with OBS, and I don‘t know if OBS is not able to do what I want or if I‘m going at it the wrong way.

I want OBS to record the sound of a game on one track, my voice on the other track, and another application's sound on a third track, as I want to edit the levels of sound in postproduction and change the language of the voice track if needed.

This is how I‘ve set up recording:

and multitrack:

and this is how I‘m mixing them in OBS:

Now, when I listen to the recording using OBS, VLC or Openshot Video Editor I only hear one track and none of the others.

What am I doing wrong or where am I thinking wrong?

Thanks in advance for any pointers

Why would you need to mix them? The point of multiple tracks is so that you can edit them seperately.

Hi Osiris,

let me rephrase my question:
How can I edit them (and at some later point mix them down into one track for a video)?

I suppose OBS does not have a postproduction component?

Thank you

Well, Openshot Video Editor is onbe but unless I'm missing something I can not edit the sound on an OBS video from there.

Thank you

[I'm clearly doing something wrong here, as I imported the sound of a recording into Audacity (which recognized and extracted multiple tracks) and the only thing that was there was one track on two channels. So I am two tracks down.]

EDIT: Ok, so I have now my voice on one track, and he sound from the game in another track, but my voice can be heard (faintly, but clearly enough) on the track with the game sounds.

I was not expecting that, as I record my voide with the mic of my headset while the game sound comes from - the game.

Which setting have I done wrong?

An help appreciated

Solution: I load the tracks in Audacity and correct the ratio between those.

Afterwards I load them into the video editor as separate tracks.
