I recently bought one of those cheap HDMI to USB capture devices to plug and play my switch on my laptop. At first, everything worked fine, but now when I plug into the USB port, the audio mixer displays sound, but there is no audio output whatsoever. I even tried on the other ports but none work... pls help...

Output where? There are lots of possibilities.

Think more in terms of a professional TV studio. We don't just have "an output". We send different things to different destinations, all of which are technically "outputs", but we don't call them that. We just send each thing to where it goes.

That is way low, by the way. It could be that everything works just fine, but you can barely hear -50dBFS.

If that's all the higher it gets, see if you can turn up the Switch and the Mic preamp. Don't use the Gain filter in OBS for this; you'll amplify a bunch of noise along with it. An almost universal rule is that you want the vast majority of your required gain to be as early in the chain as possible. All of OBS is rather late, so not good to fix a low signal there.

Sorry, allow me to elaborate. The audio mixer starts playing the moment I plug in the usb. I did not move the joystick whatsoever.

Also, there is a weird static noise going on; I couldn't hear until I used my headphones.

That's starting to sound similar to this one:
It's unsolved so far too, but maybe it's the same problem?
