PLEASE BE GENTLE lol I am a total beginner using both OBS and any virtual IO device I just happen to have chosen Voicemeeter Potato for that.
The short;
I am using Thefranswah Studio file setting for VMPotato these settings work fine
I am using the latest version of OBS with the default Desktop Audio and Mic/AUX lines in OBS disabled and hidden. I added 5 VM sources in OBS to use for my audio signals
All signals are getting from VM Potato to OBS through those sources from VM Potato
Here is the short list of my audio interface;
Microphone- Rode NT 1-A into Front input A on a Scarlett 4i4 via XLR cable using AISO for input into VM Potato
Processing/Mixing- Voicemeeter Potato All audio is presently set to a VM Potato Strip or Virtual cable
Recording/Streaming- OBS (latest version) with sources added that are all set to look at the strip or virtual cable as it's only source
Windows 10 64 bit sound settings
Input= Focusrite USB (Focusrite USB Audio)
App Volume and Device Preferences Input=Focusrite USB (Focusrite USB Audio
System sounds both I/O are set to default
Google chrome input = Voicemeeter Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) Output = Focusrite USB (Focusrite USB Audio
VoiceMeeter Input = Default, Output = Focusrite USB (Focusrite USB Audio
Spotify Input = voiceMeeter input (VB-Audio VoiceMeeter VAIO)
I have also gone into the Sound Control panel and made these changes
VoiceMeeter Input = default comunications device
Voicemeeter VAIO3 = default device
There are four choices for VM in the Sound Control Panel These settings were reccomended by The Franswah to go along with the file he created to help you get started. I hope this information helps you smarter folks out there help me find my mistake. the following is my dscription of the issue that I am having currently
Here is what I am having problems with. In VM Potato I have strip 1 set to the Focusrite VAIO (default if you don't choose a diferent one and also the one I want to use as I specifically installed the pack into windows 10 for this purpose) then in OBS I went into properties for the source(s) I created and pointed it to strip 1 in VM Potato and set the routing to the signals for left and right on that strip, to be clear by strip 1 I mean literally the first strip in VM Potato I think it may actually be strip 0....anyway it picks up my mic audio and shows my melodious tones on the meter in OBS that it is assigned to. I cna hear that audio through OBS in live streams and in recordings. (all other sounds too ) but none of the things that I do for adjustments in VM Potato have any effect on OBS output such as output levels , compression, Reverb etc. so what OBS puts out is basically my raw unprocessed audio. I should also mentio that the level for my various sources are all set to maximun gain in OBS.
Ask questions about my set up and I will answer then to the best of my ability and provide screenshots as needed. I may need some help in getting information that you need to see as I am a hardware guy I understand everything that I am doing if using a physical mixing board and cables but I have never tried using virtual softaware to do my hardware and procesing. Thank you all in advance for any and all help, suggestions or solutions that you provide...... with all that said let the learning commence and the new brain cells grow fast. I feel like this is something simple such as a setting or something that is wrong in one or more of the setting I mentioned above but since i can't just reach up and unplug a cable and plug a different one in the whole virtual routing and setting thing boggles me while I learn
