With OBS-MP there will barely be a need for system specific plugins. As soon as an Image Slideshow module/plugin gets added, it will be available for the MAC and Linux as well as Windows.
Features available in OBS will get added to OBS-MP one by one, so it will just need some time until a developer gets around to writing it.
