OBS locks up while recording

I am using OBS Studio mainly to record Ark:Survival Evolved, and a few other games. Over the past 3 months, I have had no issues. Recently, I noticed that when using OBS Studio, it locks up the screen preview area, and then when I click "stop recording" it sits there and says "stopping recording" but it never stops. I have seen a few error messages stating that OBS has crashed that will randomly pop up on my desktop. I have not changed any in game settings, or the settings within OBS Studio. I have tried to rollback my display drivers as well as windows updates, and I am still having the same issue. I have also tried running as admin, and setting it to un in compatibility mode for Windows 8, and still have the same issue. If there is another thread on this already, please direct me to that post. If you need anything further, please let me know as well. Thanks.

Same thing happens with the 356.19 install. Made it 3 minutes into the recording and it freezes. When I click stop recording, it just sits on stopping recording. And it is odd, that the timer at the bottom right of the screen is still running.

The same exact thing has been happening to me. "device_texture_create (D3D11): Failed to create 2D texture (887A0005)" everytime. If I find out any fixes I'll report back here.

Yup same happening to me, I think it has to do with ark and windows updates. It hadnt happened to me while streaming wow, decided to stream ark today and it happened.

So I did some testing. I noticed that when playing Rust and trying to record locally it crashes but when I try to record CS:GO it works fine.

In rust there are some performance settings you can change, one being Virtual Texturing which I had turned on. Once I turned it off it started working like a charm. Maybe in Ark there are settings you can turn off relating to Virtual Texturing?

Nope, cant find any virtual texturing on the ark settings. It happened to me again lastnight while streaming gta5. The blizzard servers got ddos attack so I switched from WoW to gta5 and after like 20 to 25 minutes obs locked. No signal that the stream had stopped or anything, just locked. Went to the logs and had the same error.

Likely being caused by Windows Update KB3176938 or KB3189866. You can check if you have either of them, roll them back, and try again. If OBS Studio starts working properly again, please consider reporting the issue to Microsoft via their Feedback Hub (built in to Windows 10) to let them know their update is breaking something.

Please note that rolling back a Windows Update is a temporary solution, and is mostly meant for diagnostic purposes. Microsoft will force the update onto your computer eventually.

Alternatively, wait till OBS Studio 0.16.0 comes out to see if that fixes or works around the issue.

Microsoft forcing stuff is why I refused their free "upgrade" and stayed on Windows 7. My computer, I decide what gets installed or uninstalled.
