My laptop: Windows 11
Lenovo T14 bought March 2021
i7 1051U
Geforce MX330
512GB SSD (more than 50GB free space)
I play a stream in VLC using streamlink. The video is 1080p at 60fps. I put VLC windows on my 2nd monitor at full screen. I record VLC Windows in Obs (main monitor) and add my voice with Focusrite Audio Interface. Minimal screen overlays. Basically just the VLC output and my voice.
Before, I used to be able to record 30fps without issues. Then one day I decided to move up to 60fps and dedicated both OBS and VLC to the GPU (before I wasn't sure if they used GPU or not...) The recording was OK for one day (around 30 mins recording x 5-6 times).
Then after that, I tried again with 60fps. The recording would be OK for about 5 mins with about 0.2% frames missed during to rendering lag AND skipped frames due to encoding lag. But after about 5-10m, skipped frames due to encoding lag would go up VERY high.
I was watching CPUHWMonitor intensely. CPU's current temp was always around 60C (Max col says 90C). GPU's current temp sometimes goes up to 72C but is usually around 60C.
At which point I have to shut down OBS. Curiously, after shutting down OBS. I restarted streamlink in VLC and the video still experienced lag. If I restarted OBS+VLC recording again, the lag issue still persists. but if I wait for about 5-10 minutes then restart, OBS would record fine for 5-10 minutes, and the same problem would come back.
Now the strange thing is that I decided to lower the FPS down to 30FPS but I still have the same issue: Lag after 5-10ms of OBS recording.
I think something settings might be wrong either with NViDIA Control Panel or Recording Settings of Obs.
