Hi Guys,

I am currently encountering Disconnections while streaming in Facebook.

This is just recent, and I have not encountered this for the past weeks.

I have attached the log file for you to check.

Let me know if you need further information about this.

PS. Speedtest Results
DL: 34MBPS
UL: 34MBPS
I used speedtest.net for this result

I also tried to continuous ping www.youtube.com while i'm streaming to check if connection has request time out but it turns out my connection is stable and no loss packets.

Thanks in Advance

Are you connected to your Modem/Router using an ethernet cable or are you using a Wi-Fi adapter? Sorry I may have misunderstood, your disconnection is limited to FB right? All other connections and services don't experience any connectivity issues do they?

When it comes to the network though, a "ping" or ICMP packet probably has priority over a video packet, how many devices are utilizing your network? One of the first troubleshooting steps I like to try (if possible) is to connect to another internet connection like a neighbors or use my cellular device as a tether and see if my problem exists on an entirely seperate network. Like an electrician, "follow the circuit" how far up or down is your problem on the line.

Looks like it may certainly be related to your available Bandwidth
Thats what the log says at least, "insufficient bandwidth/connection stalls: 685 (7.6%).

To solve this your going to have to troubleshoot by disconnecting everything but the streaming PC and then start a stream and see what happens. Before all that work, you can close background services and applications that may be consuming your bandwidth. You can also configure QoS (Quality of Service) settings if your Modem/Router supports it.

If you are watching your stream on a secondary monitor, dont. Use your cellular device to watch your stream so your not wasting bandwidth or have a friend watch it for you to make sure everything is good. Also, I know everyone likes to strive to achieve zero-latency but delaying the stream by 20s (an option in the settings) and increasing the buffer might also solve the issue, if your network had a little more time to process and rout your traffic it might very well be able to handle it.

Hi Ohmacide,

Thanks for the info..i am connected to the router/modem via ethernet cable.. and about 5 devices connected via wifi..

for your troubleshooting suggestion, too bad i dont have wifi card on my desktop.. hmmm but maybe i can try to disconnect all devices and only my computer is using it.

oh and one more thing, sometimes i disconnect during the start of my stream then 15mins after the next disconnection is about an hour..

i am also contacting the ISP to check on the connection..

Thank you very much for your input. It is Greatly appreciated.

No problem! I most definitely expect your network should be able to handle this though, I was streaming 1080P/60FPS on just 25Mbps, had issues but they were encoding related. I also wonder though if streaming to FB, sustainably, requires different encoding settings. Also a few errors occur in your log that were potentially caused by not running OBS as Admin, it states that directly but it did so using the word "Maybe" caused by not running in Admin, definitely do that, without that permission it can't change settings it might need too...

Hi @metalzone,
I just read your post and I comment to you that we had a similar problem that leads us to the router now and finally is making more sense, but in the troubleshooting path, we found this link on Facebook that guided us to configure OBS to stream to Facebook. I am sharing with you this link so you can check your configuration https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1968707740106188?id=648321075955172
I notice that your Upload and Download speed is good, but if there are package drops should be Network disconnection or because the streaming parameters are not aligned with Facebook settings.
In our case, we are with Comcast and found that the ISP Modem/Router was dropping many connections, in my search I found that this is because the firewall software of the router is not ready to handle what is on the network. The recommendation is to move the firewall functions to other devices behind the ISP Modem that is more ready for firewall funtions and set the ISP device just as modem/bridge. We implemented the change and testing now, but I am 100% that is going to work before situations made no sense and what I found makes.
Another solution maybe is to ask ISP provider to replace the device, which we already did because before the device was too old and the same thing was happening after the replace, so I recommend cutting a corner and if the Facebook setting doesn't work go directly to set a firewall behind the ISP and check if there is a difference. Let me know
