OBS isnt recording audio

so i have been on this forum multiples times for the same issue, i have obs now where its picking up audio. the audio bar on obs under desktop audio is moving in correlation to the audio being played however it recorded no audio at all. also now, for some reason, it wont record at all. i set \ to be my hot key to record and recently i've been getting nothing. i have checked and double checked everything, the source is the game i am currently playing, the audio looks fine, it recorded twice before though both times no audio. anyone else have this kind of experience? this is new to me since i was using an older version of obs before i had to upgrade my operating system to accommodate a new game.

to further add to this, i dont know if maybe my hotkeys werent working for some reason but i managed to get it to record again by alt tabbing to obs and then just hitting record but it looks like it only recorded a little bit and then stopped along with no audio still. could it be the game i am trying to record? i'm trying to record cyberpunk 2077. i know theres been some issues with the game itself could the program just not function while the game is running?
