Was trying to verify everything is working for a planned MSFS 2020 stream later tonight.....I regularly stream WoW with zero issues..........and I'm having some weird behavior with OBS that I can't figure out. Running the latest release on the latest version of Win10 Pro. Tried running OBS as admin and not. Basically I can be in the game with normal GPU usage of 70-90%+ and as soon as I fire up OBS but not start a stream or local recording GPU usage drops at least 10-15%. Then, once I start the recording, doesn't matter X264 or the new NVENC encoder (using a 2080 Super on a 3700X with 32GB of DDR4-3600) things get really weird. After a couple minutes, or less, GPU usage tanks. Like all of a sudden I'm using like 15-20% GPU and of course FPS tanks because of it. CPU usage never gets above 40's.
I run the sim at 3440x1440 and normal stream setup is a 2560x1440 canvas with the sim captured via game capture and sized into that canvas along with overlay elements and the canvas itself is set to output scale on the video tab to 1920x1080 and a CBR 3500 bitrate. However I have tried with my original setup as well from before I created overlays of a 3440x1440 canvas set to scale to 2580x1080 (I'm running an ultrawide monitor) and it only has the game capture and a webcam stuck in the bottom corner of the game and get the same behavior.
Sometimes the behavior will improve back to the slight loss if I stop the stream. Other times I just have to exit out of OBS altogether. As soon as I do, the sim starts behaving again.
