Question / Help OBS Huge FPS Drop compared to Shadowplay.

Edit: Issue was solved by reinstalling GPU, it wasn't installed properly and was using PCIe 1x instead of 16x.

Hey everyone,

Basically I switched over to OBS for the customisation compared to Shadowplay. However when I start recording with OBS, I go from having around 200FPS to 80FPS. Also even when I open OBS without recording or having a scene, I lose 50FPS.

I'm using the Nvidia encoder and Shadowplay only losses around 3FPS when I'm recording. If anyone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks. :)

Also the yellow warning is just telling me MP4's don't save if the computer or program was to crash.

And just opening OBS causes my game to lose around 10FPS.

Make sure gaming mode is OFF in windows' settings and remove the display capture source from your scene.

Yep, autopilot, so changes when In game.

Also did some quick bench-marking.

200FPS = In-game
150FPS = In-game with OBS open
100FPS = In-game with OBS recording

Turn it off.

Any gaming mode in other applications can end up interfering more than they help.

Edit: Re-installed OBS and still getting the same issue. This is really annoying and I don't see why it's happening...

CPU usage is only at 1% or so while recording, so that's not an issue. Also tried an older version and getting the same issue.

Question / Help OBS Huge FPS Drop compared to Shadowplay.
