Question / Help OBS has horrible framerate with Overwatch.

Here is a video showing 4 examples (including Overwatch) of fps from a few different games. Even something like The Witcher 3 is perfectly smooth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-4QmtmEd-k

It stutters and goes below 30fps. It even does it when I'm not streaming/recording. At first I thought it was my Elgato HD60 Pro, but using the OBS game capture or my Elgato gets me the same result.

Specs

Motherboard | Asus Rampage IV Extreme

CPU | i7-3930k @ 3.8ghz

RAM | 32GB 1600MHz

GPU | GeForce GTX 980

SSD | Samsung 850 Pro 512GB + 840 Pro 256GB

HDD | Seagate Barracuda 1TB + External Seagate 2TB Desktop Hard Drive

OS | Windows 10

theres is no different fix, if you want to stream/record you need 60hz moinitor and vsync. going for 144hz will introduce another desynchronization you will need to counter with obs and the results may not be as smooth as now

It's weird though because I just tested it with MInecraft and being at 150+ fps without vsync on doesn't cause the desync. OBS keeps a solid FPS with that.

edit: I also just tested it with Diablo 3 with vsync off and at about 130 fps with no desync issues. It seems Overwatch is the only game that has this issue.

yes, behavior can vary for different titles but this is general rule that will keep every game from stuttering on stream/recording unless something else is broken
