Question / Help OBS Has Always Refused To Record

OBS has always just refused to record. I never remember it working, every time I press "Start recording" nothing happens. I can't find any information on this anywhere, so I decided to make a forum post about it.

The log you posted doesn't even show you trying to press the start recording button.

That would certainly be an issue. Would you have any idea on how to fix it? It's been going on so long I've downloaded like 3 updates, and back when I tried real hard to fix it I downloaded it several times then, too.

Edit: Just in-case I forgot to press start during that log, I launched again, spammed start, checked the log, spammed start, then exited, and got the log. Just glancing at this I see a lot of things erroring or failing to load, so that doesn't look good.

Alright, I started OBS, hit "Start Recording" a few times, exited OBS, started OBS, and uploaded the log file.

Open logs directory and upload to pastebin, for example, last 6 logs.

None of them have the word "Record" in them.

Try running OBS 64 bits.
Copy shortcut, edit it and hook it to OBS 64 bits exe.

I doubt switching bitness is going to help if a bad encoder is selected.

No properties available ---> YOur OBS is corrupted This section should have encoding options: bitrate, etc.....


So, export scenes if you want to keep them.
Deinstall completelly OBS and reinstall again.

Oh, thank you so much! It works now, thank you! Good thing I took pictures of every setting page.

By the way, Add/remove Programs removed everythign except for "\data\obs-plugins\win-capture\graphics-hook64.dll". I moved this to a separate directory in-case I need it, but I don't, right? I can just delete it?

Alright, mine looks just like that, thank you very much for your help.

I don't mean to be a bother, and I tried solving this myself, but it just won't pick up desktop audio. I looked at over 20 supposed "Fixes" and questions, but they're all things like "Your media player isn't picking up the audio, but OBS has it".

I've attempted several fixes on my own, but nothing is working. I know it's OBS and not MPC-HC because it shows my mic/aux audio bar fluctuating all over, but no matter what audio device I pick, no matter what settings, no matter what restarting, OBS never even shows green bars for anything but mic/aux. I tried Speakers (2-Realtek High Definition Audio), Realtek Digital Output (2-Realtek High Definition Audio), MG248-8 (NVIDIA High Definition Audio), and Default, but none of them worked.

I even went into Realtek HD Audio Manager and changed the 2 settings I could find to see if that would do anything, and I messed around in Windows' sound menu, but neither did anything.

What should I do? Should I make a new thread on it, get help on it in this thread, or what? If you want to help me with this new problem I encountered I have the log here, if it might help.
