OBS GPU Help

Hello all! I have a fairly simple (I assume) tech question.

I know OBS uses my GPU, but does it make a difference if my monitor is run through the GPU or the onboard? Not very tech savvy so unsure if it would boost my GPU performance by running my monitor through the onboard HDMI port.

If you have a desktop PC and not a laptop, you should by all means connect your monitor to the powerful external GPU. Not to the mainboard. If you connect it to the mainboard, your PC (with all apps) will use the internal GPU of your CPU and completely ignore the powerful GPU.
