OBS getting the pinwheel of death, browser source animations jittering, etc

Apologies if this is a newb question or has been addressed elsewhere but I need some guidance on it.

I was streaming in 60 fps on my Mac using the latest OBS and I mostly stream from my xbox and it's worked fine. Whether hardware or software encoding all was good. However, whenever I use any web browsers to play games on stream (thus using macOS screen share) the Mac starts to heat up, and the fan (which rarely gets up to speed) starts going haywire. Browser animations will start being jittery but it doesn't show any major CPU spike in OBS. One time OBS just started showing the pinwheel and I could do anything on screen with it (although for some reason my Stream Deck could still control it, albeit with an extra second or so processing the command).

My question...(other than HELP!)...could this be to the way I have differing resolutions on my Mac vs my external monitor vs my base. For example, the Mac book M3 Pro I have here has a resolution of 1512 x 982. The external monitor I use as a second screen for chat and some games is turned sideways and has a resolution set to 1080 x 1920. My base resolution in OBS is 1920 x 1080, as is my broadcast resolution.

I've had to switch to 30 fps and even then you can still tell it isn't that happy about it. There shouldn't be this kind of issue. The Mac is from last year, and I got the 32MB of RAM just to be sure it could handle reasonable streaming.

Does anyone think that's the issue at hand, or is there something else I'm missing. Would appreciate any tips or guidance. Apologies if this has been answered and I missed it when searching.
