Question / Help OBS .flv file failed to generate

At the end of my stream tonight, I hit "stop recording" expecting the normal 3-5s delay before it displayed the "Start Recording" change on the button. Unfortunately, it hung up on "stopping recording" for roughly 20minutes while OBS64.exe continued to grow in size (I'm assuming that's the RAM buffer file).

I looked in the folder to see if my file had been created and found that it had not, even though the logs show that it had done so.

I don't see in the log what exactly happened, though I do recognize that there isn't an OBS instruction to stop recording.

Could anyone advise on this? Is the file gone-gone or is it in a temp container somewhere (like in %appdata%/temp or something)

Thanks!
Thal.

This specific bug is fixed in 23.2.0 (the Release Candidate is out now, and final release should be soon).

Basically, what happened is that you clicked the Start Streaming button first. It failed to start the stream, and then you clicked Start Recording. This caused OBS to not properly start recording in the first place (even though it thought everything was normal), which means the file was never created, and the video was never saved.

The recording, unfortunately, is gone-gone.

Ok, thanks. As luck would have it someone else recorded the stream at the same time so thankfully we didn't lose it. If anything, It's nice to know that that I should double check the file creation just in case (even after the bug fix).
