Question / Help OBS + external encoder (Teradek)

Hello,

I like the OBS software in setting up scenes with different sources. But, the encoding with my youtube channel cuts out the audio from a MOV file I want to stream. I also have a Teradek Vidiu GO encoder that streams amazing. Is there a way I can use the features in OBS, but go HDMI out to the Vidiu GO (encode) to youtube instead? I am using a MAC.

Cheers

I don't believe OBS has any facility for utilizing an external encoder, no.

OBS considers output to be RTMP or a file. You can set up preview output to an HDMI port, and audio monitoring to your HDMI port if your computer supports this, but these signals won't necessarily be in sync-- there's no "output to external encoder" or "output to HDMI port" setting in OBS.

I re-route the OBS program output to my computer HDMI and connect my Vidiu Pro to the HDMI so in this case I am using OBS as the production computer but the streaming is no longer via OBS but via the external Vidiu encoder.

All you need to do is right click on the preview screen, pull to "full screen projector" this will registered by Vidiu encoder as the input source for you to be ready to broadcast.
