OBS doesn't work with minecraft (help as soon as you can please)

Whenever I open obs and use game capture with minecraft 1.16.2 it just records a plain black screen, also, sometimes it will successfully show the screen in obs but once I start recording, the game crashes. I am new to obs so sorry if there is something obvious i'm missing.
