I'm new to OBS but I have used Vmix and Livestream studio for several years. One of the more powerful features of them is the ability to take data from an excel spreadsheet and map it to lower thirds, data graphics, etc. While OBS does have a way of bringing Excel data into OBS, it’s pretty clumsy. I am NOT a developer and sometimes have issues with the plugins that are out in the forum. I doubt I could even compile one for use so thank you all for providing compiled windows executables. Here is what I envision for the dock.
1: dock that can be displayed in OBS
2: can browse to a file location and select an XLS file
3: select the sheet you want to use for your data
--- row 1 would have field names for columns that are being used
--- following rows would have the data in however many columns you are using
4: a button that says connect
5: Once the connection is made the fields are available to drop on a graphic (using format like {name} as a field identifier)
6: each row of the excel file is available in the dock to advance through so when you take the graphic the new data is in the fields
7: buttons like forward, backward, and reload would be on the dock screen to advance and update data if there are changes
