Question / Help OBS detecting Audio Input/Output but not recording.

I can Google the solution until my fingers bleed but I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong. When I go into OBS, and start working on a new scene, I add my Audio input/output, from my Mic and my Speakers. I know these work and I know that OBS is detecting them, because the audio bar below their name is working. I've also tested my mic and speakers several times, restarted my computer, tried to adjust and readjust settings in both OBS and on my laptop, and nothing seems to be working. I tried FLV, MOV, and MP4 files. I'd appreciate any help.

I had a problem with audio recently and resolved it by viewing the video (.mp4) with VLC.
Try VLC as playback application.

Success. VLC playback does include the audio with MOV files too. My only question now is if I were to stream/upload anywhere, would there be audio available?
