I think I resolved this myself. The issue seemed to be Advanced Scene Switcher. Once I deleted all of the plug in references in my computer (I had to do a search for advanced-scene-switcher to find all occurrences, then delete them and empty the trash) OBS opened as normal. I'm just starting to work with it again today, so I'm not sure if it is 100% working, but the prospects look good.
