Bug Report OBS crashes when trying to stream FTL on Mixer.com

Whenever I try to stream Mixer.FTL, OBS immediately crashes. Simply will not run. RTMP is fine.

I know Mac users had this trouble a year or so ago and the only way someone "fixed" it was to use an outdated version of OBS. We were told Mixer had to fix it on their side (MS devs). Have you and/or they ever fixed it? (I'm in conversation with Mixer.com as well.)

Am on an iMac (desktop) OS 10.11.6 El Capitan, using up-to-date Firefox 68.0.2 (64-bit) & most recent version of OBS 23.2.1 (64-bit).

Here's the log file:

Any help would be appreciated. Will stop by in an hour or so to answer any questions you may have (if I can). Thanks!

8/19/2019 - UPDATE: MIXER.COM has been trying to figure this out with me as well, and has been very responsive! Not there yet, but if we figure it out, I'll be sure to post the fix here.

Is there a particular reason you're still on El Cap?

I generally advise people not to upgrade past High Sierra if they are using OBS because of problems in Mojave and above with Syphon Inject, but I'm not certain the latest versions of OBS are tested against El Cap or even Sierra.

I have no real need to upgrade my software. I already did once...to El Capitan. It's an older Mac - Mid 2010. (My son upgraded his computer to High Sierra & had all sorts of problems so uninstalled & went back to Sierra.)

OBS works just fine w/El Capitan when using RMTP. I've had no problem with it. I only have a problem w/the FTP setting.

Yes, but what I'm saying is, when people try to answer questions here, the first thing we do is try and replicate the problem, which is difficult in this case if you're running the latest version of OBS from 2019, with an OS version four major versions behind, because that's not a usual configuration. It's possible that the problem itself is caused by an unintended change in OBS that works fine with Sierra, High Sierra or Mojave or above, but does not work in El Cap and below. (Pretty sure OBS 23 won't even run on anything older than El Cap).

Do you have the crash log for OBS?

Narcogen,

Well, I know there are a LOT of people who are still using El Capitan, but...I get your point. I was actually hoping someone from OBS would take note and be able to help.

Btw, I have already provided the OBS crash log in my original post. Scroll up.

Hmm, weird, because I followed the instructions of how to retrieve a crash log and that's what I got. I'll see if I can figure out where to find it.

I'm sorry, I can't figure out how to get the crash log. I Upload it from Crash Logs on OBS, but where does it go, so I can post it on here? I couldn't find the instructions I followed when I originally posted & the one I *did* find was of no help.

I think I give up.

You need to update from MacOS 10.11 (El Capitan) to at least 10.12 (Sierra). The latest version of OBS seems to include a call to a function that does not exist in 10.11 and that is causing the crash.

Hey, Narcogen,

Been preparing for Hurricane Dorian, so just now checked this forum. Thanks! I was going to update to Sierra this past weekend but didn't want to risk it w/the hurricane & the uncertainty of its movement. Hopefully, I'll be able to do so this weekend and I'll let you know if it works.

Thanks!

Narcogen,

Thank you! I finally upgraded my iMac to Sierra and Mixer.FTL seems to be working now. Haven't had anyone in the chat yet to verify there is no delay but, OBS did NOT crash and I streamed for 2-1/2 hours w/no problem using Mixer.FTL.

I'm letting the OBS people & Microsoft people I've been in contact know about the fix. Thank you very much!
