Not sure what else I can tell you. It just keeps crashing after an hour or so. Cannot tell you how frustrating that is...

OBS Studio 0.14.2 is very old. First, you should update to OBS Studio 0.16.6 (or latest).

The crash is happening inside one of your browser sources. Updating OBS will update the browser source plugin as well. If it still crashes after updating, please post a new crash log and a new regular log from a session where it occurs.

Great point! Right after I posted here, I noticed that my version of OBS was old.

For some reason, I thought that OBS would update itself after I click "OK" when I get the new version available message.

After I had noticed that I am using an old version, I downloaded the latest and tried to install. I got an error and found that is related to a process that is still running so I had to restart to install the new version. I installed the latest version of OBS, and hopefully, I don't get the crashing issue anymore.

I find it awkward that I need to download and install OBS every time there is an update. Why is that? Can't OBS just update itself like most other software?

Auto-updating is often considered a convenience feature - it's nice to have, but it's not a necessary feature to the program's purpose, like capturing video frames or encoding video/audio data. As far as I'm aware, an auto-updater is planned for inclusion at some point, but there are other more critical features that have yet to be added, and there are bugs that still need to be addressed. For now, the middle-ground is that there is an automatic notification of when new updates are available.

Altho I agree with you that auto-updating is a feature and not a requirement based on my experience with developing software there are hidden benefits to it. The most important one is that your software becomes "evergreen." The more people are using your latest version, the faster you can find bugs in it. The fewer people are using your old version, the fewer posts like this one. :D

Now that I know that I must download and reinstall I will be okay.

If I may, I would like to suggest an update to the "There is a new version of OBS" message. If possible make is shorted that include a link to where to download the latest version. I skipped that message because I assumed it was just telling me that OBS got updated.

I'm not saying it doesn't have benefits. I'm just saying that other things have been higher priority. On the flip side, there are also people who complain that auto-updaters force new versions that they didn't want to use onto them. I firmly believe that an auto-updater would be good to have, so long as it gives the user the option to automatically update. In any case, it is on the list of things to be added eventually, the big question is always when, to which I'm sure the answer is, "When Jim does it, or someone writes a really excellent patch for it and makes a pull request."

To your other concern, I'm pretty sure that the message already does include a hyperlink to the new version. It even uses the language "Update Available" rather than something like "Auto-Update" or "Updating Now".
