Hi Guys,

I've been experiencing a BIG problem with OBS. I am running dual pcs ( Gaming and Streaming separately).

1- Gaming pc is connected to a 4K monitor via display port directly to video card 1080ti Strix
2-4k monitor is connected via HDMI cable to elgato x video card x usb cable to laptop (streaming pc)

Issue:

When all is setup, NDI, etc etc etc... I've setup OBS on the gaming computer with NDI and display capture to the streaming pc (laptop).
Only and ONLY only OBS is opened with the capture display setting on the gaming computer the color distortion happens on the monitor, all colors are turned to shit. When I remove the display capture function from the gaming pc all colors are returned to normal IMMEDIATELY but I lose my ability to stream... ANY THOUGHTS?

The only thing I can think of is that you should have posted a log as instructed at the 2nd from the top post in the forum, so that we could help you right now instead of wasting time asking for it.

Also a screenshot of the issue would've been relevant/essential/useful as well.

The causes for the issue have been identified which I will describe below and attach a screen shot as well.

When OBS is opened the screen resolution in game changes and all the colors are distorted, blown out of proportion. This happens if I try to use the NDI plugin or the capture card. picture below.

I have tried a variety of combinations where I connect my 4k monitor (main monitor) to a display port to the video card directly and use NDI to send the signal to the streaming pc (laptop) OR connect the secondary monitor to the video capture card and then to the laptop and duplicate the screens while gaming, this way I should be able to play in 4k and stream from the secondary monitor to the stream pc in 1080 or 2k or whatever I want.
The issue is that in both cases with NDI or through the video card the resolution on the 4k monitor changes automaticaly to 1080p MAX ingame only and all the colors are blown out of proportion.

Thouhts?

What color format is the capturecard set to recieve? E.g. "YUV Color space", and "Video Format"?

Hi Zida,

The output from PC 1 is for 1080p, the gaming PC has two monitors a 4K and a 2K monitor. The gaming monitor is 4k and the additional monitor is 2k, the capture card is connected to the 2k monitor, I am attempting to mirror the images from both monitors and using the 2k monitor to stream the game to the capture card to the streaming pc whilst gaming on the 4k monitor.

I believe this not to be the issue as I also have this grotesque color distortion even when attempting to run it on NDI plugin. As soon as I close OBS the color distortion disappears, i dont even have to restart the computer or the game, it just goes straight back to normal. This issue is with OBS itself.

Quick update guys...

I've attempted to game and stream from my pc which should be no problem since it's a very high end gaming pc. Guess what?
SAME PROBLEM! the color distortion is still happening not I am 100% sure that it's something to do with OBS, REALLY REALLY disapointed with the app. I've endured so much frustration the past few weeks, will never ever recommend it to nobody.

You really make it difficult for people in the forum to help you, if you reset all kind of default settings just randomly and ask for help with these randomized settings. You may think the settings have no impact, but in fact they have - their effect ist just hidden behind your primary issue.
OBS is optimized and works best with default settings. You only change settings you know and need to change.

I've been having issues with the app since day 1, it's been 2 weeks now with a brand new rig that can't deliver because of this simple issue which is, by itself, infuriating to say the least.
I guess you're all just trying to help and I am just so frustrated with all this that it's making it harder and harder to solve the issue...
I've made a new discovery...

Attempted to use other streaming apps and have gotten the same exact result... Color distortion when they are opened. It happened with streamlabs and xplit as well as OBS. This is unheard of by anyone....

The million dollar questions is "Why every time I open any god given stream app on this brand new $4.000 rig it distorts game colors"

Quick update for people with same problem:

SOLUTION found:

Run game in window mode in full screen. for some reason that fixed the color distortion...

Now I have another problem... I can't play in 4k, it seems that the game detects the lower possible setting (bottleneck) of the system, so to solve that I guess i will need a 4k capture card?

I ran into this same issue.
2nd SOLUTION. In Battlefield 5 disabling HDR seemed to work (as well as windowed like you suggested). I still am experiencing a 20fps loss with OBS just running at idle with NDI.
