Question / Help OBS causing severe performance issues across the board

Hey everyone,

I started streaming not too long ago and for a while things where going fine but recently OBS seems to be causing some truly horrific problems in performance, If I run The Binding Of Isaac the game slows to about half speed and eventually crashes, my webcam is very choppy and non responsive when it's capturing any game. I was just playing Battlerite in which any sluggishness is a huge issue and without OBS it runs fine, with OBS I have to lower the graphics and even then it isn't greatly responsive.

Any suggestions, please find the logs of my most recent stream attached.

As for my system I can't remember the full specs but I have an AMD Phenom x6 3.2ghz CPU and a GTX970 GPU which I feel should be fine

What does your task manager look like while you are streaming? If you can open that on another screen and monitor its usage you will be able to see if something is bottlenecking your performance. Also check your temps in case thermals are a problem.

Side note and someone else can disagree: 1200 bitrate for 720p seems low?

All my temps are fine but It does actually seem like my CPU is at 90%+ used when I am running everything but then 2 things, A) why was this not an issue before and B) that should still be fine because I would have thought the GPU would handle most the computation for the game and OBS?

CPU load depends on your setup and such; again I am not an expert at looking ar your logs but it looks like you are using your CPU to encode in OBS. Additionally, you do have alot of 'stuff' on your stream. I know that I ran into issues when I had a particular overlay on top of other 'stuff' (follower count, chat) on my stream, during testing issues i was having I created a new profile in OBS and just put game capture in there and that actually solved my issue. Then reapplying one by one I found the problem source and deleted it.

Also; CPU usage and GPU etc depends on the game and how they are built. Some games are just poorly optimised for multi-thread and cause issues.

Both of these are great suggestions, will play around in the morning, thanks a bunch :)

Disable "SLI/Crossfire compatibility mode (slow)" checkbox in game capture. It's the main cause of performance issue in your setup at the moment.

He's a genius, thank you so much, that's nailed it, even Isaac is smooth as butter now, thank you so much.

Is there a way to flag this as solved?
