Question / Help OBS causing massive framerate drop & input lag before streaming

So I just installed obs and figured out how to get it to capture games, and now whenever it's running,streaming or not, it causes huge framerate drops (down to 12 fps) and crazy input lag. I'm running two separate monitors, one connected to my GPU and the other connected to the Mobo so i can monitor the stream. The main monitor running the game is 144Hz, the second is 60Hz. Anyone know what could be causing this? It happens regardless of whether or not the preview is enabled. Thanks!

Sometimes for me, I have to turn off g-sync, then restart the game and OBS MP. I also have two monitors - one 144 (the g-sync monitor) and the other 60.
