Question / Help OBS causes League of legends to FPS drop every few seconds

Hi, for some reason when using OBS studio my game has massive FPS drops from 80 to 24ish every 3-4 seconds. Normally when I play the game I get over 150 FPS and I limit to 80. But when I have OBS open even if it isn't recording everything it causes massive FPS spikes. The problem goes away when I close it. The thing is I don't know why this is happening as I'm not even recording anything its just open in the background. I also have a pretty high end laptop so it should be able to handle it. I even put all the setting really low but it still gives me FPS spikes.
Any help is appreciated!
