Question / Help OBS causes FPS drops when recording videogames

Hey all,
Recently, I have downloaded OBS on my macbook air, version 10.11.3, in order to record videos and maybe even stream. However, while I do manage to record audio and video, it causes the game I'm playing, which is League of Legends, to drop in term of FPS, and my computer starts ventilating like crazy.
Is there any solution to this?

you have to have cpu with passmark score 5000 at least, macs model can help

What do you mean?

check your cpu model: go to passmark.com and find your cpu in benchmarks. To find cpu model I use wikipedia

So what if your cpu is under the passmark? I have Intel Core i5-5257U @ 2.70GHz at 4,362

Are there any settings I can change to make it work more effectively?

5000 is known to be minimum to stream if less lags can occur.
-Change output resolution to 480p, 240p and see if there is less lag
-change preset to ultrafast
-try apple encode (basically Intel Iris 6100 quicksync) instead of x264 as I know it should be already implemented in test mode
