OBS Cascading

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could help with this:

1. Downloaded OBS today to record a short clip of a video.
2. At first, the recording was just a black screen.
3. Fixed black screen by changing display graphics into power saving mode.
4. When using device capture, I get this cascading effect in both 3840x2160 and 1920x1080 (although less tiles at the lower resolution). It records like this too.

Question: Can this problem be solved or is my laptop incompatible with OBS?
Thank you.

Dell XPS 15 9570
16GB Ram
Nvidia GTX 1050Ti

A programmer friend helped me find the solution to this problem.
Simply minimize the recording screen.
After 3 hours of looking here there and everywhere, it is as simple as that.

Yep. It's because you were recording the screen that OBS was being displayed on.
No different than pointing a video camera at a TV showing what the camera is recording.
It's called the Droste effect, or 'hall of mirrors'.
