Question / Help OBS cannot record fullscreen games

I have tried all of the source options and I can't record my game. I've tried 'Display Capture' but once my game goes fullscreen, the recording freezes at the first frame and does not change. The audio works with every option, but the video is always broken.

Game capture should work for fullscreen games. You just can't tab out to view what's being recorded.

Using game capture just gives me a black screen with audio

In what? The recordings when watching with windows media player?

You won't be able to use OBS and play a game on that CPU anyway.

I'm having this issue as well, Game Capture on any executable just shows a black screen, but does register audio.
I've got an i7.

Did you try with anti-cheat compatibility hooking enabled?

@Harold, just gave that a try, and there doesn't seem to be any difference.

Then the specific game you're using has some excessively aggressive anti-cheat blocking code.

Interesting. It's Planetary Annihilation: Titans.
I'll find a low key single player game to try OBS with and see how that works.

A few other games I tried work just fine. I guess PA might be overzealous with the anti-cheat =/

I ended up restarting my pc for unrelated reasons, and upon launching OBS again, I got an error about MSVCR120.dll but the application started just fine. I found this thread: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/msvcr120-dll-missing.35901/ and went and got the 2013 VC Redistributable, and now the Game Capture works!

Thanks a lot for your help Harold. And to everyone who's contributed to this, the software is very very nice, especially considering its in such an early state. Very intuitive, yet powerful UI, and (near) seamless functionality.
