obs-camera not recognized by discord after update

i have been using obs to run my webcam into discord for years now, just updated obs today and now whenever i try to select obs-camera as the option in discord i get a grey infinite loading wheel, i am able to use obs virtual cam, but not just obs-camera like i used to. i have uninstalled and reinstalled both obs and discord to no avail.
