OBS broke during stream. Pls help

I was both streaming on twitch and recording at the same time and OBS just broke after 40 minutes. There was no error message, the scenes were still working (I was playing off the capture), OBS was saying there were no problems and it was sending the footage just fine. The only thing that suggested anything was wrong was my stream manager showing an error message that I saw three hours later. I tried stopping the stream and recording and both just got stopped at "stopping stream" and "stopping recording". I tried closing the app normally but I couldn't, I had to close it from task manager. I checked the recording and it was corrupted. I started streaming again and the same exact thing happened again another 40 minutes later. I resumed stream again and didn't encounter anymore problems after that. Do you know how to fix this problem? I also don't know how to recover video files, I need help with that as well.

Your log file 2022-04-20-13-15-20-txt shows nothing in the almost four hours that you apparently were gaming:
13:34:12.056: User switched to scene 'Stream Layout'
17:29:09.957: [rtmp stream: 'simple_stream'] User stopped the stream
These are two consecutive lines.
Unfortunately I cannot be helpful on what went wrong in that time.

But a strong advise: do not record into .mp4 file format! When recording to .mp4 some meta data will be written to the file only at ending the recording. If proper ending goes wrong, then the whole file content isn't usable any more, as you experienced.
Record to .mkv instead. Many media players support that file format. If you do need a .mp4 file, perform a so called remuxing afterwards (kind of converting). That option is available at OBS Studio's File menu.

Thanks, I'll try .mkv next time! For OBS itself I'll just cross my fingers and hope that it doesn't happen again.
