Question / Help Obs beginner needing help with Sony handicap

Hi guys and girls

I'm new to the forum as a poster, hoping I can get some help
I currently have two webcams running through 12m active usb leads but I also have a HDR-cx240e and the aver media lap lite as I'm hopeful the image quality cam be improved ( the handicap is a budget item that could be replaced) my issue is ....... the handicap can be viewed via recentral but I don't seem to be able to replicate this within obs. I have the input as a game syphon, rec injected but no preview? I'm of the assumption this is a frame rate or resolution issue but I've tried lots of options
please help p.s I'm a bricklayer by trade so feel free to talk to me like a child!

Avermedia does not provide video device drivers for MacOS; your only choices are their software or using OBS to window capture their software.

Could you explain how to do either option I really would like to do a stream test to see if the quality is improved compared to the c920
Is a window capture a good option?

I'm not sure what I did different today which is a little unhelpful however I have got the lgp lite with the Sony in obs, now to do a test stream to see if its worth while

So in short this can be done using recentrel or window capture
My issue now is the unstable nature of the 12m active cables I’m using I’m going to stick with webcams for now until I can find someone with the knowledge to set me up properly with the correct hardware on site
