I have been using OBS with the same set up for about 2 years and recently within the last few months have been running into a ton of problems when I try to use other applications like google chrome, or even file explorer at the same time. I use OBS to host a live podcast and we often react to other video content on youtube, articles on google, or prepared videos or skits in my computer files. All of which have started to lag horribly while OBS is open. Without OBS up, these things run fine, but once I combine them in any way, I start running into issues.
I have updated all of my drivers, OBS, and even paid a tech to come out and look at the computer and they could not find anything wrong with the hardware. I have tried rolling back to OBS 26, (which did stop some of the lagging from YT) but then I ran into other issues with display captures not being right and my sound board lagging intensly.
I will include a link to a test I just ran, and you can skip about 2:28 to begin hearing / seeing the issues.
Thanks in advance for your time and advice in helping me, as this has been a ridiculous headache and cost for months at this point and I'm honestly not sure what I can do anymore.
