First let me apologize to you all if i came to the wrong place, but i'm having some trouble trying to get the right blend between obs and voicemeter.
The main concern that i have with it right now is the ability to try to lower game volume in voicemeter for my stream without having to lower volume for myself. (This makes it easier for the audience to hear me and my friends without having game audio drown us out) I know such a thing is possible in obs, however since (from what few examples i've seen) obs and voicemeteer are just about married programs now i was hoping one of you out there might have a fix
It might just be me, but you really haven't given enough information for us to work with. But at the very least, I can point you in the right direction.
Program Setup
First I'd make sure your running Voicemeteer Potato (it's 3 Virtual IO are what we're looking for). Remember, you need to run the installer then immediately reboot your computer. This reduces the chance of any audio driver configuration issues. The goals of this setup would be to have control over; Game Audio Volume, Headphone Volume, Microphone Volume (Mic Volume going into OBS), VoIP IN Volume (Mic Volume going into Discord, TS, etc), and VoIP OUT Volume (Volume coming from Discord, TS, etc).
Output Setup
This is dependent on your setup, but at the very least have whatever you use set as Hardware Output A1. This means you can manipulate the audio running through it with the A1 slider on the right.
Virtual IO Setup
We'll be using VoiceMeteer VAIO for PC Audio, VoiceMeteer Aux for VoIP IN, and VoiceMeteer VAIO3 for VoIP OUT. First, I'd set Windows' default Playback device to VoiceMeteer Input (VB-AUDIO VoiceMeteer VAIO) and Windows' default recording device to VoiceMeteer Aux Output (VB-AUDIO VoiceMeteer Aux VAIO). This sets up the VAIO and Aux VAIO Sliders in VoiceMeteer. To setup VAIO3 all you need to do is set it as the voice output device in Discord, TS, Steam, etc...
Input Setup
Like when we setup up your outputs, this is dependent on your setup. At the very least set Hardware Input 1 to your Microphone.
Routing Setup
VoiceMeteer's routing uses the buttons labelled A1-A5 and B1-B3 on the right of the sliders.
Mic Routing: B2
PC Audio Routing: A1 and B1
VoIP IN Routing: None*
*(As your mic is already going to B2 this is already being routed, but it can act as an additional point of volume control)
VoIP OUT Routing: A1
Additional Options:
You can also install a
Virtual Audio Cable and have it set up as a Master Mix and route the other devices to it as well.
