Question / Help OBS and ElGato HD60 Audio Sync Issues

Hey everyone, I have spent hours trying to figure out which settings I need to set my webcam, mic, video capture, etc, to sync up the gameplay footage, webcam, and audio. My webcam is the default cam built into my laptop and the mic is the default mic as well. I use the ElGato HD60 capture card and I cannot seem to figure out which ones to mess with or what buffer to set them to. Keep in mind that I pretty much just stream Guitar Hero to Twitch, so everything being in sync is crucial. Any help would be great!

Hi,

The latency from the HD60 to your computer is around 650ms.

Set the delay for your webcam, and mic to 650ms, and do a quick test. You may need to adjust by +/- 50ms.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, that did not do the trick :( the gameplay is delayed and the audio is not in sync. I've tried so many different settings, and everytime I think I might have them correct, something else becomes out of sync. If anyone that has an ElGato HD60 and has everything in sync, please let me know what your settings are!

So the only thing that told me to do was turn my audio bitrate down to 128, which I did, and it is still all out of sync. Right now it appears that the webcam is playing before the gameplay and audio, and the audio is slightly after the gameplay. I currently only have the webcam and the mic delayed to 650 ms.

So let's back up here.

1. Which specific device(s) actually need to be delayed to sync up with the Elgato? Just your mic and webcam?

2. Are you delaying those device(s) currently? If so, by how much? Are you having trouble with this/can't find the option?

3. Do they need to be delayed further? Have you tried that?

1. So my webcam and mic are in sync perfectly. That is not the issue. It's just the Elgato itself that is constantly delayed, even after I change the delay.

2. I've tried delaying them all the way up to 2000 ms and it still is at a constant delay. I'm wondering if I'm not changing them properly? I am clicking the settings gear right above where the sources are at and changing the delays from there.

3. Again, no matter how I change it, the Elgato is still delayed. I even tried setting the Elgato to -1400 ms and it was still delayed.

You can't un-delay the Elgato. You have to delay your webcam and mic to sync up with it.

Click on the gear icon above the audio mixer and set a 650ms delay on your mic.

Then right-click on your webcam's video capture device source, select Filters, and add a 650ms video delay filter:

I hope your color correction is better than mine in this picture.

Now make a test recording. Are the mic and webcam still too early? Increase the delay to something larger than 650ms and test again. Are the mic and webcam even later than the Elgato now? Decrease the delay to something smaller than 650ms and test again.

With a little experimentation you should be able to find the right delay to have everything sync up.

Thank you so much, that worked! It turns out I had no idea about adding the video delay filter. I can finally stream again :)

Thanks x100!
