Question / Help OBS and Desktop Presenter

We are a church using 1 computer to project song lyrics and power points onto a screen. Currently we use a second computer to broadcast (ustream) our service. we use Desktop Presenter on the 1st computer to send what is on the screen to the second computer.

I want to start using Open Broadcast to Live stream on Facebook but I can't figure out how to input the IP address from Computer 1 (using Desktop Presenter) into OBS on computer 2.

Any thoughts?

Are you talking about the Telestream tool Desktop Presenter? That tool can only be used with Wirecast. It is a proprietary tool developed by Telestream for use with their products.

Yes Telestream. We currently are using it and Ustream's Production software is able to pick it up. I add a new layer and enter the IP address which Desktop Presenter is using.

Ustreams software is Wirecast. You cannot use desktop presenter with OBS, unfortunately. Sorry. :(

The answer is, regrettably, "Not easily."

There's methods you can use, such as setting up an nginx-rtmp server, but those can get pretty involved and complicated rather quickly if you're not comfortable with sysadmin or command line/config file editing.

Depending on how far apart the computers are, you can use something like a capture card and a long HDMI cable to capture the feed from the secondary PC.

The computers are next to each other but Computer 2 is already using a capture card for the video camera. I'll try to brainstorm so other methods. Thanks for your help!!

You can use chrome cast extension in Google chrome on the source computer, and capture it using airserver, or a similar program, on the computer with OBS. Also, I haven't tried this, but you may be able to use the new ndi plugin

hey OBC I am running into the exact same problem and cannot find a solution. We have been using the Ustream platform but want to run through facebook live and it doesn't have that integration. I hate to switch services but need something with some sort of remote desktop presenter functionality so that I don't have to purchase an expensive switcher. If you find a solution, please let me know. rknight@gatherasheville.org

It seems the only way to do this is to purchase wirecast...

Hi, Just started to explore for my church as well. For your specific problem of slides, I would say, you can take a copy (in our case the slides are in a network drive and hence I can just access them) the slides on the same machine and use window capture to project slides. Not an ideal solution, particularly for those timed slides for worship. But it can work. I have not switched yet. But this is the one solution I'm thinking for my slides.

A remote connection can be easily done without installing new software or buying equipment on Windows 10. in the start menu open the 'connect' application (this should be pre-installed on your computer). Then on the other Windows 10 computer keyboard press, the windows key + p and select connect to a wireless display at the bottom of the window. Then select the computer with the connect application open (both devices must be on the same network for this to work). then on OBS create a screen capture source and select the Connect application.
