OBS 29.0.2 Hotkeys

I'm having trouble with hotkeys in OBS in that they'll work for a while then they'll just stop.

I'm using OBS on two separate machines, both Macs but one is Intel and the other is Apple Silicon. They both experience the problem.

Is anyone else experiencing this or is there a fix in the works?

Can anyone help? This bug is having a major impact on my live stream. If it was predictable it would be less of a problem but because it only pops up every few streams, and can only fixed by restarting OBS, it's impossible to work around.

Your best solution is to use Streamdeck with companion bitfocus. Many here do just that for the very reason.
That may well be the case but clearly the function is broken. If many as using this workaround as you say, surely it should be a priority to be fixed?

Priority is it, maybe sorted out on a future release but as Streamdeck offers more flexibility and integrates well you can see why much attention is not focused on the issue. Some with better knowledge have worked around this I'm sure, also bare in mind that the development of OBS is by the community on their free time.

Mr Johnson (Babs) is correct. Just get the least expensive Stream Deck (six buttons, but you can make multiple "pages" of six buttons each with its own OBS hotkey). I use three Macs in my OBS live-streaming set-up, each with its Stream Deck (XL for the Mac Studio, 15-button for the Mac Mini, and six-button for the MacBook Pro). The Studio is the streaming machine running OBS, the Mini runs a Keynote deck with slides of images, graphics, embedded videos, etc.), and the MBP is for remote guests via Skype or Zoom. I also use a Stream Deck pedal on the MacBook Pro to control Zoom calls. I produce, host, and switch between 18 scenes during the live shows (twice a week, #616 yesterday), and run all audio via a Rodecaster Pro. The Stream Decks greatly ease the workflow, whether live or prepping shows, especially given the ongoing problem with OBS hotkeys. OBS is an amazing gift to our community of streamers, for which I am entirely grateful. Remember, too, that most of the OBS "customer base" is on PCs; therefore, we Mac users must be a little more patient with the Devs who always get around to fixing our problems in due course.
