OBS 28 with Multiview crashes when switching on/off 2nd monitor

We have a Mac mini M1 with two monitors, where the 2nd monitor shows the multi view in full screen. When I switch off the 2nd monitor and switch it on again, OBS crashes. That is repeatable, but doesn't happen always. We usually don't switch the monitor off during streams, so it is not an urgent problem, but it could happen due to faulty cable or by accident and it is a bit scary...

Yes, same for me on both an M1 Mac mini, and a base-model Mac Studio. I run OBS on the main monitor connected via USB-C, and OBS Program Out via HDMI to a splitter that feeds three confidence monitors. When OBS is running, if I use Cmd+F1 to toggle from Mirror to Extended, no problem. If I use Cmd+F1 to toggle back to mirroring (the HDMI monitors mirroring the main monitor), OBS usually, but not always crashes. I have no reason to do that when live, so as you say, Herr Falcke, it is just an annoyance, not an urgent problem. Not a black hole. BTW, congrats on winning the 2011 Spinoza prize. P.S. Running OBS 27.2.4 as not all the plug-ins I use are yet updated to OBS 28. —TFE

I have a similar problem. I have a MacBook Pro M1 Pro and thwo addional monitors connected. One monitor isn't actually a monitor but an HDMI splitter with four monitors connected. The macbook screen normally shows fullscreen multivew, the single screen shows either the obs main window or a browser and the second (quadrupled) monitor shows the fullscreen sprogram view. In case one ot the quadrupled hdmi screens turns on/off OBS crashes.

I had to unplug the second monitor, launch OBS, then plug it in again and it works. It's annoying but gets me through until this all gets resolved.
