obs 27.1.3 on Fedora 35, source: v4l USB 720x480 capture device - getting "lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls"

I'm really puzzled by this problem I'm having. The system is a B450 motherboard with an AMD Ryzen 5900X CPU, so pretty dang powerful. I'm using OBS to capture video from standard-definition video tapes. I'm using an EasyCAP USB device to do the capture. The lsusb command identifies it as "MacroSilicon MS210x Video Grabber [EasierCAP]." I have the Video setting set to 720x480 source scaled to 640x480, 30 FPS. If I capture a couple of hours of video, sometimes the result is a perfect recording. Much of the time, however, the log shows 30-50% "lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls." Playback of the resulting video shows large portions of the video that only play about one frame-per-second.

I'm beginning to think my problem stems from the USB capture device I'm using. Perhaps it is defective. I have another one with the same chipset and when I use it, the problem does not occur.
