I have a old MacBook upgraded in RAM and memory. Looks like OBS 24.0.2 is the only software version that is compatible. Is there another software version with better compatibility ? Without me upgrading this Mac. This set up leaves me to ask which capture cards and cameras are compatible with the OBS at 24.0.2 on a mid 2009 MacBook Pro on OSX El Capitan 10.11.6

I can only tell you that the Elgato Camlink is only compatible with quad core systems and up. I believe a 2009 macbook or imac for that matter is only dual core. So the camlink will not work on that system. However you might want to look at the cheap china capture cards. They often use USB2.0 which might work on your 2009 macbook. But do your homework before you buy. I don't guarantee it will work.

As for a camera, you need a camera that had "clean" HDMI output (this means there is no text overlay or focus information/squares in the image when you view the HDMI signal) and it needs to be able to stay ON for an unlimited time (much camera's turn of automatically after a certain time, which in some cases you can turn off).

It's also worth it to see if autofocus works while in "clean HDMI' mode. In my case, i can only get clean HDMI when i turn autofocus OFF (Canon EOS D800/T7i)

You might want to have a loog at the elgato camlink compatibility list to see which camera's have clean HDMI etc. Most camera's that are suitable are on their with additional helpfull info. Just google for "camlink compatbility list"

I have a cheaper capture card on the way. If it doesn’t work, I’ll probably just upgrade computer. As far as the camera option you’re talking about... I really wanted to use my iPhone 11 as a camera, but no apps are compatible with it and OBS is not picking up the iPhone via usb. Will camlink camera need another/2nd capture card for hdmi? Or I can hook up via usb?

I am not very familiar with iphone, but if you want to use your iphone as a camera in OBS, Just use http://obs.ninja
Just visit that with your phone, set the options and copy and paste the link in obs "browser source"

Dang it. I tried it and it says I need to be on version 26.1.2 or newer. Which leads to my next question.. if I’ll be able to connect I iPhone via hdmi to a capture card into the usb and if OBS version 24 will read it as a video capture device

Will OBS studio version 26.1.2 work with a El OS X Capitan 10.11.6?
Not sure on that, But i guess you have allready tried that in the meanwhile ;)

(sorry , didn't get any notifications about your follow-up posts)

Not sure if it works with ps4, but you should definetly try it. Using the screen capture option.

Yeah I’m actually upgrading now I’m on OPS 26.1.2 for Mac I’m trying to get PS for remote play 4.0 to show up in a window capture or a display capture. In window capture it has a option to choose remote play but it says (null) next to it and isn’t showing anything on screen when selected
