Question / Help OBS 23.0.1 Slideshow seems to be causing me render lag now

Heya all,
I have been using OBS 22.0.2 for quite some time. I did notice I was getting small amounts of frames lost to render lag by having too many images in my slideshows. I was able to get around it by reducing the amount of images I was using and this worked fine for me. Ever since upgrading to OBS 23.0.1 it has introduced render lag once again. I am guessing it may have something to do with the slideshow as that module was re-written since the previous version of OBS. The render lag even happens on scenes that do not display the slideshow however I can get rid of the render lag completely if I delete the slideshow from everywhere it exists. This render lag can be experienced when sitting idle and not recording.

The render lag of a few frames happens roughly every 15 seconds or so and seems to build up over time and then can cause my Elgato capture card to become out of sync with my audio. Just wondering if there is a known issue or is it just me that is experiencing it?

Is OBS demanding more processing power now since OBS 23.0.0? For the time being it is best for me to stay on OBS 22.0.2 as my frames are more stable there. If this is a side effect of the of the new slideshow module, having a feature to switch to the old method of loading all slideshow images into the ram might be handy.

I'm having a similar problem to you, and it only started wth 23.0.1 - any time I switch into our out of a scene involving the Image Slideshow module, it lags going into and out of the scene. Strangely I can switch between multiple scenes that all have Image Slideshow in them, even if they're loading different graphics, without any lag. But I've had to delete Slideshow from everything at the moment.

I had the same problem, and might have found a solution. However I am using Ubuntu.
I only have my laptop screen and window capture does not refresh frequently enough to do a power-point/google presentation.

So I had to use Screen recording instead. But I have only one Screen, which needs to be used for OBS.
So I installed an extra screen, which is virtual. Now I can move my presentation to the extra virtual screen, and use that screen capture within the OBS. When I move my cursor out of the screen to left or right, i still can see the cursor though the OBS itself.
Worked out nice. Hope there is a similar virtual screen for windows as well.?

This is the virtual screen I used. It will make a virtual display device and it will appear as an extra monitor is plugged in to your computer in the display settings. you can arrange its "virtual position" and extend desktop to whatever your convenient direction is.

Hope this helps.! Thank you.
