Why does your post sound like you are trying to capture what is coming out of your TV? It should go thru the capture first. PS3/4 into the HDMI in on the Capture card and your monitor is to be hooked up to your HDMI Out. Also on the ps3 or ps4 you can bypass the HDCP by ordering off Amazon a HDMI 1x2 splitter. Read the reviews before you order, but most of the cheap ones do not retain HDCP. <~~~ Not what SONY would approve of but I have been running this method for over a year now and I am recording in Full 720p / 1080p depending on the monitor(s) I use at the time.

im using a capture card and you don't need a HDMI bypass for ps3 you just record in component which comes out something like HD. For your second thing every place i read with this monitor the capture card goes in to the HDMI out port.

I use the Hauppauge HD PVR 2. And the instruction keep telling me, Console HDMI out -> Capture card HDMI in or use Component in which you are using. Use Capture Card HDMI Out -> TV HDMI Input.

Also your first post stated that you are going to your monitor first which is what I gathered from the post. Yes you can use component but what I was stating and I will explain why I use hdmi for the ps3. Picture looks a lot better than from a device which is taking a 480 source and upscaling it to 720p or 1080p. As for all the instructions even for the PVR Rocket, it goes from the console to the rocket hdmi or component in, and from the hdmi output on the rocket to your hdmi input on the tv. Otherwise you would not get picture inside the capture software that comes with the pvr.
