Question / Help OBS 0.12.0 severe stuttering

I have no idea what exactly has changed in the latest build of OBS, but I can no longer stream my Xbox One at 1080p 60fps, not even on the veryfast preset.

Before this update I had no issues streaming 1080p 60fps with the faster preset, but now my stream is constantly freezing/stuttering, yet OBS reports no dropped frames, and the preview looks perfectly fine...
My CPU usage (i7 4790k) is 100% constantly with the faster preset and around 90% with the veryfast preset.

Whats going on?

1080p 60fps? That's pretty ridiculous. I'm surprised you even got that to work with the old version.

Honestly, I have no idea what might be causing this. Especially not without a log. As a workaround, you could downgrade to the previous version since that seemed to work fine. Also, are you sure the OBS version is the only thing that changed? Are you running something alongside OBS that you didn't before? Did you change a setting in your capture card? etc...

Literally nothing has changed except the version of OBS. I'll try and get a log later, but I've been streaming at 1080p 60fps for weeks without issues.

Do you only stream or dump your stream to a file locally aswell? If so make sure there's still enough disk space left for that, as your HDD getting full could cause lag.

Other than that, I don't think we can do anything else for you until you've uploaded your log.

Do you see the 320x24000 resolution thing? Whichever device is getting that is probably the issue. Take a close look at the sources in your scene to check if any of them have changed (updating to a new version can sometimes corrupt scenes/sources if the way they are handled changed). Also look at "Edit Transforms..." for each of them. If any one of them shows something weird like 320x24000 for its resolution, you should probably delete the source and re-add it from scratch to see if that changes anything. Also do this for sources in other scenes within the same scene collection if you can't find the culprit in your current scene. Since all sources are global in OBS MP even ones in different scenes can cause problems.

Also, dropped frames are perfectly normal when OBS lags. The fact that it lags at all is the abnormal thing here.

I only have 1 scene and I only have the capture device and the webcam in the scene, and i've checked both of them, they both look fine. My webcam is set to 320x240, not 24000.

Make a brand new scene collection with a brand new scene, and add both capture devices to it to make sure we're not missing something here. If that doesn't work, screenshots of their properties windows please.

Hmm... does the same issue happen if you record just the webcam? Just to narrow things down.

Also, what settings are you using in the capture card's source?

Remove the webcam, and capture a game window on your machine. It's to test if this is a general issue, or video capture device specific.

Also, those settings look fine. If you make a screenshot of every single part of your settings (profile and of the sources) I might be able to spot a potential culprit, but at this point I honestly think it's just an issue with video capture devices in general. You'll probably have to downgrade to the older version where it still worked and wait until the next version comes out to see if it's fixed by then.

Well, I could believe that, except my friend had the exact same issue when he first upgraded to this version of OBS, he since formatted and reinstalled Windows 10, and no the issue is gone, so im stumped. I don't get whats going on
