Question / Help Nvidia 3D Settings & Frame Dropping

Hello! I am currently at the office so I will post OBS logs in an edit later tonight but I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue I am having as described below:

Every time I update the drivers to my GTX 970 I notice that OBS Studio starts dropping frames although there have been no settings changes inside of OBS itself. I have found that modifying some of the Global 3D Settings in the Nvidia Control Panel seem to effect the rate/frequency which frames are dropped "Triple Buffering" as an example.

I cannot determine the settings that ultimately will bring me back down to 0% frame loss but I have had the exact same issue on both a GTX 660Ti as well as a GTX 970 FTW in regards to 3D settings.

Has anyone else experienced this recently (last two or three driver updates) and if you've overcome it, how?

Thanks in advance!

Yes... I've found that if OBS is not set to 'prefer maximum performance' in the NVIDIA control panel, there will almost always be frame skips and drops.

So enabling triple buffer helps with nvenc? its off by default
nvenc generally causes fps drops in game and stutters in recording/stream. It just seems unfinished yet. Its far from shadowplay performance. QuickSync on the other hand works almost perfect. So x264 and QS in OBS, nvenc in shadowplay for now
