Question / Help NVEnc support in Linux *sometimes* fails to work

Hi, I'm recording Minecraft videos using OBS (on kubuntu) and it works fine. I have NVENC enabled and it works. At least for a while. Sometimes it simply stops working. If I hit the record button it suddenly says: 'failed to start recording'. Sometimes restarting OBS works but most often it doesn't and I have no choice but to switch back to software. Any idea what could cause this or how I can diagnose this problem?

BTW, I have an nVidia GTX 1060 (on an MSI GV72 gaming laptop).
