Question / Help NVENC not working after updating drivers

Hey guys,

I updated my NVidia drivers from 359.06 to 390.65 and i'm running OBS 20.1.3 now and i can't seem to get NVENC to work and it errors out with "Failed to open NVENC codec: Generic error in an external library" in the log file ?

I've read that others have had the issue before with older NVidia drivers ? How do i get this working again ?

Also any files i output using H.264 to MP4 can't be read by Premiere CC 2018 correct (they get imported okay but when you play them they are garbled and mostly a black screen).. They can be played by Windows Media player classic Totally fine but not by Windows Media player built into Windows 10.

I have all the latest windows update including that out of the normal update cycle one on January 3rd for indows 10..

I think i just fixed it. i had the Color Format under Advanced set to I444 by accident. Set it to NV12 with YUV color space back to 709 and YUV Color Range = partial and it started working!
