NVENC min. requirements

Hey guys,

I am planning on upgrading my rig to a newer one.
I am not sure yet whether to buy a new streaming PC or repurpose my gaming PC as the new streaming PC.
That's why I want your opinion.
I use OBS in a Windows 10 machine with a Geforce GTX 1060. therefor, I choose NVENC as my encoder.
Can I transfer it to the new rig? Or would you suggest a new Nvidia Card (e.g. my RTX2080 from my gaming PC) and therefor build an entirely new gaming PC?
What are your suggestions/experiences? Is the 1060 enough or is a more powerful card better in your opinion?

Kind Regards
Zero

Try it and see. The first answer is binary: either it works and you're done, or it doesn't and you keep looking.

Yeah, try and error is easy, but I wanted to know whether you would do it or not. Because if I spend 600 bucks on a new graphics card for a gaming PC, when the GPU I have in my current Gaming PC is overkill for OBS encoding, I waste 600 bucks on basically nothing.

AaronD is saying this: Use your GTX 1060 in your new streaming PC and see what happens. If you're satisfied, keep it like this. If not, get a new GPU.
I guess the GTX 1060 is still sufficient.
